Miley Cyrus’ 3.5 Cushion Cut Engagement Ring
After being with her longtime Australian boyfriend Liam Hemsworth for three years, he finally proposed in a big way – with a stunning custom designed cushion cut diamond ring.
The pair met three years ago while filming on set for The Last Song, a romance movie based on a Nicholas Sparks novel. They have enjoyed a committed on-off relationship since then, and it has resulted in a happy ending. Both of their families are very close and have expressed their happy wishes to the couple!
When asked by jeweler Neil Lane what he wanted in a ring, Liam Hemsworth requested something “beautiful and unusual.” The finished creation boasts a 3.5 carat cushion cut center diamond, set in an elaborate filigree band of 18-karat yellow gold featuring carved diamond floral motifs in an art nouveau pattern. The center stone is a hand cut, circa 1880-1890 old European mine cut. Neil Lane says of the diamond “At that time no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it’s fascinating to look at because it hasn’t been recut to look contemporary over the years. I find that really romantic.”
Lane did not disclose what Miley’s fiancé paid for the ring, but diamond expert Mitchell Egenberg puts it in an estimation of around $100,000.
