Diamond Dazzle at Christie’s New York
It is that time of year again – Christie’s New York held their Magnificent Jewels auction, bringing in private collectors, jewelers, and esteemed diamond houses from all over the world. This was an extremely successful year, generating nearly $50 million through the sale of 320 lots.
There are always one or a few pieces that are the highlight of the sale. These are the spectacular, the enormous, and the exceedingly rare – and this time, the spotlight belonged to a 50.52 carat flawless D-color pear-shaped diamond. The stone is mounted in a platinum pendant and accented by a round brilliant cut 2.28 carat diamond surmount, suspended on a platinum necklace. It sold to a private collector for $9.5 million!
