Get Lucky with the Color of the Year: Emerald Green

EmeraldThe Pantone Color Institute has dubbed Emerald as being the Color of the Year for 2013.

Each year, the color authority surveys color influences around the world through high fashion designers’ collections, films in production, travel destinations, art collections and more. They have unveiled the annual color choice this week, Emerald, describing it as “a lively, radiant, lush green.” It will be replacing last year’s Tangerine Tango, a bright reddish orange.

No matter which color Pantone puts out each year, they always are spot on in their choice. Although it is merely a prediction based on their observations on events and places, they have become so influential that many couturiers, interior designers, and jewelers alike await the annual announcement to incorporate the “it color” into their pieces.

What better way to embrace green than through jewelry? Emeralds are prized for their mesmerizing vivid green hues, adorned and adored by many since the time of Cleopatra to European royalty to modern icons like Elizabeth Taylor. They are primed to make an incredible impact in demand in the next few years, as more and more people are becoming aware of “The Big Three “precious gemstones: sapphire, emerald, and ruby. This makes them a great investment vehicle as well, with high-quality emeralds value soaring tenfold within the last three years.
