DMIA Helps to Prevent Synthetics
The Diamond Manufacturers & Importers Association of America (DMIA) called upon domestic and international organizations, grading laboratories, governments and law enforcement to join together in a serious and committed effort to prevent the leakage of synthetic, laboratory-grown diamonds into the natural diamond market.
There has been an increase in recorded incidences in the past couple of years of fraudulent behaviour with the disclosure of a diamonds origin. As technology becomes more advanced in the field of manufacturing synthetic gem materials, it also becomes more difficult to differentiate between synthetic and natural.
This is why it is so important to have your diamonds and precious gemstones certified by a recognized gem lab (GIA, EGL, AGL, etc.). Also, having a reputable jeweler is crucial. If something is too good to be true, it often is! Even natural diamonds from conflict areas, commonly referred to as “blood diamonds”, are sold in the market for a fair amount below an equivalent diamond from a conflict-free area.
At Secret Sapphire, we view quality as a paramount quality. That’s why we stock Hearts on Fire diamonds, which in addition to being the “World’s Most Perfectly Cut Diamond”, are verified as being conflict-free and in compliance with the Kimberley Process. For peace of mind for both the origin of your diamond and the quality, trust Hearts on Fire. You can view their collection in person at Secret Sapphire in Vancouver, 493 Davie St.
