Sotheby’s Auctions off Jewels from Legendary Lauders
Jewellery from the collections of beauty moguls Estee Lauder and her daughter-in-law, Evelyn Lauder will be featured at Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels auction on December 5. The proceeds from the auction are projected to exceed $13 million and will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, an organization founded by Evelyn in 1993. Evelyn also is credited with creating the well-known pink ribbon symbol which is worn by awareness supporters around the globe.
Over 90 pieces from the Lauder collection will be showcased, and the highlights include Evelyn’s 6.54 fancy intense pink diamond ring and her 22.16 carat platinum and diamond ring. Another highlight of the sale is a 47.14 carat heart shaped Fancy Intense yellow diamond which was previously owned by the Duchess of Windsor and was refashioned as a diamond pendant necklace by Van Cleef & Arpels for Estee Lauder. The pendant was set into a chain of diamonds for a total of 95 carats.
