Tangerine Tango Color Of The Year
This year is looking bright, vivid and full of color; this is all due to the Pantone Color Institutes declaration of the color of the year. ‘Tangerine Tango’, a red-orange color, has been named the top color of 2012. In 2012 the color was the sultry Turquoise, and last year, 2011, honeysuckle, a warm pinkish – red color was declared color of the year.
With each color comes a feeling and story of meaning. With this year’s economic hustle and bustle, ‘Tangerine Tango’ has been chosen in order to “provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward” says Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute.
In order to choose a color for the given year, experts from the Institute examine the various socio-economic fields such as fashion, film, economy, art, technology and general pop culture. With these in mind, looking at spring collection, ‘Tangerine Tango’ has already shown up in fashion collection on the runway such as Tommy Hilfiger, Elie Tahari and Nanette Lapore. Pantone has even partnered with Sephora to launch a full campaign on the vivacious color. Lipsticks, eye shadows and nail polishes are going to be the topic of focus.
In respects to jewelry, the beautiful color comes in different stones such as orange or champagne diamonds, mandarin garnet, amber, citrine and last but not least orange sapphire.
Here at Secret Sapphire we carry many of the colors chosen in the past several years in our timeless pieces of jewelry. Our collection of Margo Morrison has a beautiful necklace made of carnelian which pops in vivid color. Another majestic piece is a part of our Monica Tsao collection. This piece is a brown-orange diamond in a beautiful custom setting. These are a couple of pieces we carry that complement the Pantone Color Institutes Color of the Year.
