The Argyle Empress
Hong Kong luxury jewellery retailer Chow Tai Fook has announced its debut of a special statement piece which combines rare pink diamonds from Rio Tinto’s Argyle Mine with Imperial Jade. The stunning necklace, appropriately named “The Argyle Empress” showcases more than 43 carats of Argyle Pink Diamonds, including five of its signature Pink Tender diamonds collected over the past five years. The Rio Tinto diamonds are combined with 33 rare Imperial Jade beads, creating an exquisite combination of rare treasures from opposite ends of the Earth.
Pink diamonds are one of the most highly coveted gems for their rarity and unique color. Rio Tinto’s Argyle Mine which is operated in Western Australia, produces and sells more than 90 percent of the world’s pink diamonds in a broad range of colours and sizes.
The jewelled empress is valued at $5.5 million and has been inspired by the Hong Kong Camellia. Pink diamond-encrusted flower motifs are offset perfectly by the vibrant greens from the surrounding jade, creating a blend of East and West. “This heirloom piece of jewellery is the first of its kind for the growing Chinese market and will take its place in history as a coveted masterpiece,” says Josephine Johnson, manager of Argyle Pink Diamonds.
