Traditional Tiara Modernized
It has been a long known tradition for the brides of a royal wedding to wear a decadent tiara down the aisle. Even in modern times, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, wore the Queen of England’s Halo Tiara by Cartier next to her hubby, Duke of Cambridge, Prince William.
However last summer Olympic swimmer, Charlene Wittstock, married Prince Albert of Monaco in a spectacular wedding set in beautiful Monaco. To everyone’s surprise, Charlene was tiara-less. Nevertheless, diamonds were definitely not absent from the brides head. The bride was found wearing a ‘Diamond Spray’ tiara like piece designed by Lorenz Baumer, as seen in the picture above. This piece contained 11 pear-shaped encrusted diamonds set in a dazzling floral design. In addition to the Lorenz Baumer piece, the couple exchanged 18-carat white gold wedding bands made by Cartier, in front of the royal crowd.
Another crazed Royal wedding of Monaco couldn’t be left unmentioned. The stunning Grace Kelly had a mesmerizing collection of jewels on the day of her wedding to Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956. To this day, the wedding is considered the most beautiful wedding to date, and was called the “Wedding of the Century”. Even Kate Middleton’s wedding dress was inspired by Grace Kelly’s dress designed by Helen Rose. Instead of covering her headpiece in diamonds however, Kelly chose a lace piece with several pearls, reflecting her humble nature.
